Labor Day weekend at the beach

You could not have asked for nicer weather in Hermosa Beach California this Labor Day weekend.

The ocean had big waves and many people were enjoying the opportunity to relax there. The Fiesta Hermosa went on all 3 days with fabulous entertainment, food, jewelry, art and photography. There was something for everyone.  The sun was hot but not too hot, the streets were jammed with happy beach goers.

An exciting thing happened at the Community Garden. We were able to see for the first time the drawings for the permanent site that we will have when the new playground at South Park is finished.  Because of the number of trees shading the area where the garden will be, there will only be 30 beds in the garden.   Looking forward to having all the beds full of happy gardeners.  The gardeners in the small demonstration garden have begun to harvest  vegetables from the garden. Not as many as we had hoped because we had some difficulty with the fact that the beds are on a cement base inside the old skating rink.  This has interfered with drainage for the garden plots.

Tuesday our new City Manager will begin. He is from Park City Utah and has already moved into his new residence here. Tonight he will have dinner with Mayor Jeff Duclos talking about the issues and projects that the City Council is working on.  Looking forward to getting to know him.
